Some really vital games at the foot of the table could go a long way to deciding who goes down. Unusually for a Saturday afternoon, there’s more than enough to keep the neutral interested, with every game having a bearing on the relegation race.
LIVERPOOL vs STOKE CITY (1230 ko)
As Stoke’s tenure in the top flight draws inexorably to a close, this visit to Anfield will soon become a memory of former glory. If Stoke lose and Swansea beat Chelsea, Stoke will be all but mathematically relegated today. An early goal for Liverpool, which is more than possible, could open the floodgates of a defence that’s spent much of the last nine months being battered and broken. Few tears will be shed at their demise. Home win.
BURNLEY vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
Given their nightmare run-in, Brighton will be relieved that they have probably accumulated enough points already to avoid the drop. Burnley, who have to be the league’s surprise team of the season, have effectively cemented seventh spot, but will be aware that they have an outside chance of overtaking Arsenal on place above them. A point for the Seagulls will certainly see them safe, but they have strong opposition. Home win.
CRYSTAL PALACE vs LEICESTER CITY
Leicester’s form has dipped in recent weeks, but they still have enough to pose a threat to any team. Palace have the kindest run-in of the bottom teams. A point today will almost certainly see them safe and will cap the most remarkable of turnarounds. Draw.
HUDDERSFIELD TOWN vs EVERTON
Speaking of remarkable, few people would have given the Terriers much chance of staying in the Premier League back in August. Now they’re odds-on to fight another year in the top flight. Given their handicap, they are also contenders for surprise team of the year. But David Wagner can be sure that BFS won’t lie down for them and will expect a difficult game of few chances. Draw.
NEWCASTLE UNITED vs WEST BROMWICH ALBION
The pressure is off the Barcodes – as it is, albeit for different reasons, for the Baggies. That could give this game something of a testimonial atmosphere. But Darren Moore will hope to stay in the job next season, so will want to sign off from the Premier League with hope of a rapid return. Draw.
SOUTHAMPTON vs BOURNEMOUTH
This is a biggie – and what the junior of these rivals wouldn’t give to put a decisive one over their more illustrious neighbours. The Saints know they have to win today to have any chance of staying up, but they are still to play Swansea in a massive six-pointer, so a win here would keep their hopes alive for another week at least. This will be a tough, tough game. Home win.
SWANSEA CITY vs CHELSEA (1730 ko)
The Swans will be keeping a close eye on the fortunes of Huddersfield and Southampton. A win for the Saints particularly would send shivers through southwest Wales, assuming the region’s inclement weather hasn’t already done that, and would make today’s encounter with the reigning champions all the more crucial. For their part, Chelsea have little to play for, but Antonio Conte will be keen to avoid further humiliation. An away win would help us. Come on, you Blues! Where’s the Listerine? Draw.

I thInk we will set up defensively tomorrow. It will probably make no difference to the result, but when we go 2 up front our midfield will get overrun. City could really inflict a mast defeat if in the mood. I wouldn’t blame Moyes for taking safety first tomorrow, but it was disgraceful against stoke and won’t wash against Leicester either.

Stoke and Arsenal were teams to beat I wonder if Moyes regrets his cautious rather negative one striker tactics right now?.
Almost every team are picking up points and I can promise you this for nothing, If West ham cannot get anything from the next two games then in all honesty we deserve to go down.
Putting on a striker who is hot to trot for 5 minutes here and 10 minutes there shows where we are as a club we are timid and running scared, and our players moral is practically on the ground, Moyes has made a star of Arnautovic and Rice but little else, the team are still unfortunately pretty awful .
